The 12th Annual Big Island Marathon in Hilo

This Years Big Island Marathon will be 12th year that this race has been run along Hilo's coastline.

In my opinion there is no better setting for a race then up and down the coastline of Hilo Bay.

Starting at Pepeekeo running back and forth through Keaukaha, and finishing in the heart of Downtown Hilo.

Runners from all over the world will have one of the nicest runs of their lives.

The run starts on the beautiful four mile scenic drive that starts out of Pepeekeo, dropping from 500 feet in elevation to about 10 foot above sea level.

From there on out the course is pretty much flat, so there is no uphill climbs for the runners.

This event has gotten more and more prestige as the years have gone by, and this year promises to be packed with runners from all over the Hawaii and the world.

The race starts at 6 A.M. sharp and is accompanied by a 13.1 Mile Half Marathon or 3.1 Mile Run/Walk.

Deadline to enter is March 15th, so if you want to participate, visit Hilomarathon.com print out the entry form, and get ready for an experience of a lifetime.

The Hilo Hawaiian Hotel at 71 Banyan Drive, also has a special Dinner for the Big Island International Marathon participants, March 20, 2009 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Dinner Buffet at the Moku’ola Room in the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.

Prices are posted on the Race's website.
