Big Island Roots Music: One of our favorites Natural Vibrations
Although not from the Big Island, we had to feature Natural Vibrations on our site. The Hawaiian Islands have a lot of incredible bands that have been sprouting up in the last ten years or so, but none of them are as electrifying as Natural Vibrations. Possibly the best live performance that I've ever seen was given by these Oahu boys. They have a rhythm with each other that is seemingly flawless. Whether it is changing the tempo, harmonizing three or four vocalists, or throwing in their pidgin style rap, they have a unbeatable presentation. Every time they get over to the Big Island I try to see them. In the studio, they have had just as much success. The first album that they put out came out eleven years ago, and they have been a non-stop hit factory since then. They were the Winner of the Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Best Reggae Album of the year twice, once for their hit CD "All Natural", and once for "The Circle". Their recent release "From the Heart" has been nominated for the 2008 Hoku award, and has already won the Best Reggae Album at the Hawaii Music Awards. Their 2000 Album "Getting High" also won Best Reggae Album from the Hawaii Music Awards. Some Samples of Natural Vibrations
