Big Island County Council: Bill 270, legislation to adopt a new Building Code, Friday, January 20th, 8-am

Aloha,

There is current legislation pending in front of the Big Island County Council that will severely impact the bamboo construction industry. Bill 270 is legislation to adopt a new Building Code that is currently in front of the Council. In the
County amendments to the adoption, they have removed a requirement section that allows for Bamboo Houses under International Building Code Chapter 1 Section 104.11- Alternate Materials, Design and Methods of Construction and Equipment.

This removal impacts the bamboo construction industry as bamboo and its methods of construction is one of the alternate materials that would fall under this section. It is vital that a representative from your Industry or business join the many others (hopefully) in testifying in front the County Council encouraging them to amend Bill 270 by reinserting the above section. Please come and testify. Please feel free to call for more information .
