Big Island Hawaii Accommodations
On the Big Island Hawaii accommodations come in a wide variety. You have world class resorts and hotels, vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts, and then for the more adventurous you have camping on remote beaches.
I myself was raised with a great respect for the outdoors, so I like to go camping, and have been to some of the more remote camping spots on the Big Island.
My family likes the luxury the hotels and condos have to offer, so when we get visitors, or if it is a special occasion, the resorts are where we go.
Whatever you are looking for, I am confident you will find it here in our section on Big Island Hawaii Accommodations.
Big Island Hawaii Hotels

Big Island Hawaii accommodations come in all shapes and sizes. If you are looking for a decadent experience, a world class hotel is definitely what you want. Some of the Big Island Hotels are absolutely amazing.
On the Big Island there are three main areas where there are hotels. Those three areas are Kona, Kohala, and Hilo. Kona Airport and Hilo Airport handle pretty much all visitor traffic on the island, so if you are visiting, you will probably land in Hilo or Kona. If you are staying in Kohala, you will land at the Kona airport.
It seems like Kona and Kohala have become the playground for the rich and famous in the last ten years. The airport in Kona, Keahole, has over fifty private jets parked in its hangers during the holiday season.
With establishments like the Four Seasons, the Fairmont, and Hyatt Regency, is it any surprise that we have some of the finest hotels, trendiest stores, and most challenging golf courses found on the planet? Kona and Kohala offer Shopping for the ladies, golf for the gentlemen, and a Five star hotel to relax in...any takers?

Big Island Condos
My suggestion to anyone visiting our island with a budget, or just with the desire for a more home like environment, would be to get a Big Island condo, or Vacation Rental.
All over the island you will find beautiful, modern condos that are by far cheaper then a stay in the top hotels.
You can spend $ a week and have a awesome two bedroom Big Island condo with a full kitchen and two baths.
Views from the Lanais(porches) are usually very nice and comfortable, but make sure you get one with a ocean view! That is worth a little extra money.
Plus you can chose from a wider variety of locations, as condos are spread all over the island. Families looking for Big Island Hawaii Accommodations, should definitely consider condos or vacation rentals.

Hawaiian Vacation Rentals
Across the Hawaiian Islands, Vacation rentals have become a safe investment for the upper middle class and the upper class. When you look at Hawaiian Vacation rentals, you will find nice homes, well furnished, and extremely comfortable.
This is because most of the people that own them use them for vacationing themselves. They even have dreams of moving into the houses that they have put so much time into making warm and welcoming to a visitor.
Whats the difference between a Vacation Rental and A Condo Rental?
A Vacation Rental is usually its own house. You will have a yard, sometimes pool, hot tub, and more all to yourself.
A condo, you have to share the facilities with other tenants.

Big Island Hawaii Bed and Breakfasts
Hawaii bed and Breakfast establishments can be as diverse as the population. In certain areas you will find inexpensive humble accommodations, with a simple breakfast, and others will make you feel like royalty.
The main thing to consider here is your budget, and how secluded you want to be.
The fancier Bed and Breakfasts are like mini hotels, like you see in the picture of Holualoa Inn. Pool, Hot tub, full service Kitchen, maid service, and more. The only difference is that there are only usually five to ten tenants at max. Meaning you won't have the hustle and bustle that a major hotel has.
My Favorite: Big Island Camping
Seems like thee is less and less places to camp on the Big Island, as progress has its way. Whats that song? Oh yeah, they paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
Still there is a lot of open space left on the Big Island for the more adventurous of us, its just a question of how far out there you want to get.
One of the beaches that the county gives out permits to camp at is Punalu`u Black Sands Beach, for more info and links to the county site check out this page on Punalu'u
Another County Beach Park you can camp at is Spencer Beach, follow this link to our page on Spencer Beach Park
