Governor Linda Lingle has released $356,100 for the construction of accessibility, health and safety improvements at Kea`au Public School and Library, which is located on the Kea`au Middle School campus on the Big Island.
This project is part of the $1.87 billion public infrastructure construction plan unveiled by Governor Lingle on December 15 to stimulate the economy and create jobs. Progress of all 1,521 projects belonging to the plan can be tracked on the Governor's website at http://hawaii.gov/cip.
The Kea`au Public and School Library is one of 13 public libraries on the Big Island. Project funds will be used for improvements to the library's fire alarm, emergency egress lighting and exit lighting systems and to replace the library's roof.
Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2009 and be completed in September 2009.
