The State of Hawai‘i Department of Transportation and the Kea‘au-Pāhoa Advisory Group will conduct public informational meetings about proposed improvements to Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road (Route 130) starting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, at Pahoa High and Intermediate School, and at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at Kea‘au Elementary School.
The Kea‘au-Pāhoa Advisory Group (KPAG), consisting mostly of community members, has been meeting regularly for months to determine the overall criteria for the highway. This week’s open house meetings will begin with the viewing of displays detailing the group's findings followed by a welcome from Jiro Sumada, deputy director of the state Highways Division, Department of Transportation. A project overview will then be presented followed by a question-and-answer period at each of the meetings.
