Okay, Quinn's is a bit of a dive. That said, it does have a few things going for it -- the best ono sandwiches on the island, for example. It's open until 11 PM, later than any other restaurant in Kailua-Kona (except Denny's). If time gets away from you on a drive to South Point, Quinn's is awaiting your return with a cheap beer and a basket of excellent calamari. You can also have a beer at the funky bar filled with fishermen.

The BEST!!!
by: CT 4

We absolutely LOVED QUINNS..... The waitress was pleasant, funny and very efficient. The food was fresh, hot and marvelous, and the BLUE HAWAIN ICE was the best we had in the 2 weeks in Hawaii. We loved the casual , hometown environment and the local culture.

Quinns- run away
by: mark

I just left there and I want to relate the experience while the memories are still burning.

We arrived at 6pm after a long week of site seeing and fun in the sun on the Big Island. Being our last night on the island, we wanted to finish it off with a comfortable meal and a few drinks. We arrive and sat in the quasi-outdoor area next to a fountain. Our hurried waiter quickly shoved menus in our laps and took our drink orders. Ten minutes later we got some watered down Island Ice-teas and a couple of sodas for the kids with less ice than the numerous flies and geckos that continually pestered us for the next 30 minutes.

The food was delivered quickly and the preparation was consistent with the service. That is the first time I ever had an oriental chicken salad with 5 total one-inch pieces of chicken and ranch dressing. My daughters had spaghetti with a vegetarian sauce with beef and Ahi fish and chips that was fishy and mostly batter. My wife’s clam chowder not only needed improvement but was totally shelled and awkward to eat.

To top it off, from the moment we sat down, several flies attacked our food and us and the fearless birds and geckos made a feast of our table. Approximately 12 minutes of this torture continued when I stood up and asked the unapologetic waiter for some to-go boxes so we could try to eat in peace. He shoved some in my hand with a $100 tab and walked away. So as not to offend my wife and kids, I left a 20% tip and left, handing him the bill with a cash payment. We received not a word of apology or remorse from the staff. Before we drove away, I reentered the place to let a manager know about our experience, but none were to be found.

Avoid this place...I called to talk to a manager later...no help...no return call.
