A popular local hang out that is tucked away at the Coconut Grove Shopping center within the first mile stretch of Ali'i Drive, and not just because da kava makes you mellow. Their pupus rock!

Fresh poke, tender bowls of pulled kalua pork, healthy sautéed veggies, and sweet potato haupia pie are available in fairly large portions for less than you'll pay anywhere else on the island.

Seating tends to be at a premium, but don't be afraid to share a table and make friends.

* Credit Cards: MC, V

P.S. For those of you that don't know, Kawa or Awa is a plant that Hawaiians have used for generations, both in ceremony and festival.

It has a mild sedative effect that makes you feel mighty good. The first time that I drank it, I had the biggest smile, and I couldn't feel my toes.

Best to drink Kawa first, then eat after. If you eat before, you dilute the effects of the Kawa.
