Mr. Aloha

Mahalo! Glad to find your site. First of all I am a Hauli. I visited Hawaii in 1967 and 1968 briefly to and from Vietnam. I dreamed some I might visit longer. In 1972
I was stationed at Hickam, AFB for 3 years and I loved it. I again revisited Hawaii
in 1986 for vacation. Of those time's I saw the drastic changes that time showed me and it saddened me. I have since studied Hawaiian history thoroughly and not only saddened but angry at my government. This also happened in the Philippines. Perhaps elswhere, like Puerto Rico. Since 1990 I promised myself to never visit Hawaii again as I felt this nation (Hawaii) did not need another Hauli or two to encourage
the tourist industry. In my heart I would have loved to live there permently. However with all due respect I am a very small minority who seem powerless to help you. I do agree with the logic that had the U.S. not have had a significant presence
on Oahu the Japanese would have done a worse job of the Islanders. Yet because of the military presence it in turn caused the attack on Dec. 7th 1941. It seems to me
that the Government/people should have had the authority to invite or deny access to the Islands for war purposes. This very issue to is the same today. Sadly, the real tragedy today is the presence of Monsanto corrupting the soil with chemicals.
As for restoration of your nation, I also strongly feel that an appeal to the native Islanders should be proposed for full nation hood. As a U.S. citizen I would support a houli concensus to support your nation independence. My favorite singer is IZ and he really speaks for Hawaiian's. If you were to be a true nation, the Hawaii'ns should have free control over tourism, industry and military terms. I pray I live long enough to see a free Hawaii. Aloha!
